Reflection 10
We turned in our chair today and everyone liked it. Even Mrs. Nguyen was surprised that we completed the chair and it worked. My group was the only group that successfully completed everything and had it all turned in on time. Unfortunately we could not present today because everyone was not done so we will have to do it next time. I really think the cardboard chair will help boost our grade. Hopefully we all will be passing now.
Reflection 9
We are finally complete with our chair. It worked just as we expected. We spent numerous hours working on the chair and it all paid off. We were very tired and exhausted, however we had a burst of energy when it was finally complete. We called Josiah's parents in the room to test out the chair and it supported all of our weights. The most we tested was 165 pounds. I cant wait to bring our chair to school and get a good grade on it. Now I have to upload the pictures to the powerpoint and we will be done.
Reflection 8
We weren't able to finish our chair in class so we took it home to complete. We all met over josiah's house and began working on it Friday night. We had a lot of difficulty because our box cutters were dull. We managed to cut as many pieces as we could. This took several hours for us to complete. It started getting late so we decided we will meet up on Sunday to finish construction on the chair. So far we have all of our bottom slots created and our sides. We will have to make the top slots on Sunday
Reflection 7
We managed to cut out and outline the other side of our chair. After that we began cutting the slots that would be inserted into our final chair. The chair seems to be coming along well and I have confidence in my group. I believe that we can succeed however, it will take a lot of hard work and effort. We now have 2 sides and 3 slots but we will need to take the chair home for further construction.
Reflection 6
Today we turned in the other part of our project. After that, we were allowed to go into the lab and begin construction on our cardboard. I began by outlining the side and base of the chair. We had to make several adjustments to the chair because of the size of the cardboard. This required a lot of erasing. We managed to get the chair just the way we wanted it and we began cutting it out.
Reflection 5
Today we worked on our final sketch. We decided to use Josiah's prototype because we felt as if it would get the job done. The chair we chose is very stable and easy to build. We decided upon the measurements that we would use to construct each part of the chair based off the requirements in the report. I was responsible for creating the final sketch. When I turned it in Mrs. Nguyen told me I had to make my dimensions more clear. I redrew the final sketch and made adjustments to it.
Reflection 4
Today we turned in our report for pages 1-3. Unfortunately my team members did not finish their part of the assignment. We ended up receiving a 50 on this part of the report due to our misunderstanding of what was due. We were allowed to enter into the lab to finish the parts of the report that weren't finish. We will try to recover by getting a better grade next time.
Reflection 3
Today we worked on our report. We divided the tasks evenly amongst me, Josiah, and Devonte. Hopefully we will be able to get our work done more efficiently. I began by doing the vocabulary words on the packet that we needed to do. I also wrote descriptions for each of the sketches that my group had. We had a total of 21 sketches with 3-4 sentences describing each one. That was all I had to do for the day
Reflection 2
I took the design I had and brain stormed ideas to make the prototype stand. I decided to fold an index card in order to make the seated area. Once I did that, I cut slots into it for an arm rest. My armrest was also the base of my chair because it connected to the ground. It had a triangular shape so the base would be stronger and able to support weight. Once Mrs. Nguyen tested it, My chair was able to stand on its own. The only problem is that the back of my prototype was not very strong. I plan on fixing this for the actual model.
Reflection 1
We began by researching chairs that may fit the criteria. We made seven sketches each of chairs that were not bonded together using tape or glue. Once we did that we constructed a prototype out of notecards. It was very difficult for me because my chair was not strong enough. I went through several designs and my chair could not hold the pencils and pens in the jar. Mrs. Nguyen allowed us to take it home so hopefully I can figure out a solution to the problem
